DALLAS COWBOYS RIVALRIES AND PLAYERS

For many years the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys has been the top rivalry of all times.  The goes back to 1960 when the teams played each other, resulting in a Washington win 26-14.  These teams have met in many regular season games and two NFC Championships.  Dallas leads the regular season and the Redskin leads the play off series.  The last meeting with Tom Landry as coach was a win over Washington.

There has been twelve players name to the Pro Football Hall of Famers.  Some of theses players include:Roger Staubach,Tom Landry,  Tony Dorsett,Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, and Emmitt Smith.  Seven of these players received Super Bowl MVP.  The Cowboys do not retire their jersey like most NFL teams, they have a Ring of Honor, which is a display encircling the field.  This rings has seven-teen names, all past Dallas players.

The most recent inductees were Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin.  Once Emmitt Smith retired he was inducted along with Aikman and Irvin.  This took place during half time against rivalry Washinton.  Some jerserys are kept "unofficially inactive", this means the jersey may not be issued for a number of seasons.
